Rules

Move the paddle under the ball.
Bounce the ball into every brick.
Missing the ball costs one of three lives.
Clear a pattern to advance. Every level changes the seeded layout and increases ball speed.

Controls

Move with touch, pointer, arrow keys, or A/D. The paddle follows your pointer while the game is active.

A brief history

Breakout was designed by Atari and released in 1976. Its single-paddle, brick-clearing loop turned Pong's rebound mechanic into a solo arcade challenge and inspired decades of block-breaking games.
