Rules
- Guess the hidden five-letter word in six attempts.
- Every guess must be a valid word in the bundled dictionary.
- Press Enter to submit. A submitted row cannot be changed.
- Repeated letters are scored only as many times as they appear in the answer.
Color guide
- Green means the letter is correct and in the correct position.
- Yellow means the letter is in the word but in a different position.
- Gray means the letter is not in the word.
Controls
Use the on-screen keyboard or your physical keyboard. Backspace removes the last letter. Enter checks the current word.
A brief history
Software engineer Josh Wardle created Wordle as a private game for his partner. He released it publicly in October 2021. Its simple daily format spread rapidly, and The New York Times acquired the game in January 2022.

Answers and accepted guesses come from a bundled local word list. The game needs no API request, account, or personal data.
